We would like to share with you our personal view, beliefs and approach about the research that is presented on these pages.

We both value the research of modern science and the many developments that have been discovered.

We also value the depth of wisdom and knowledge of traditional and classical five element acupuncture, which integrates the many aspects of body and mind.

We acknowledge the information gained from research, and we endevaour to use it where appropriate when meeting the needs of an individual who is suffering in health.

We hope later to share more information on the five elements of acupuncture.

Acupuncture Decreases Blood Pressure Related to Hypothalamus Functional Connectivity with Frontal Lobe, Cerebellum, and Insula: A Study of Instantaneous and Short-Term Acupuncture Treatment in Essential Hypertension

'There was statistical difference in Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) in LR3 group after treatment compared to preacupuncture, P = 0.006, which could demonstrate that SBP decreased in LR3 group after treatment.'

'FMRI observations were also carried out to look at regions of interest (ROI) of the hypothalamus and specifically within it, the areas of the supraoptic (SO) nucleus and paraventricular (Pa) nucleus of the hypothalamus (which secrete vasopressin (AVP)) and their connectivity to the frontal lobes. The Frontal lobes are closely associated with emotions and this connection appeared in the study which may be important in the control of vasopressin and its effect on blood pressure. '

Evidence of a Synergistic Effect of Acupoint Combination:  Resting-State Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study.

Conclusion. 'The increased number of altered brain regions as a result of acupuncture at the LR3 plus KI3 acupoints versus LR3 alone supports a synergistic effect of acupoint combinations. Brodmann area 6 [BA6] was activated more strongly after acupuncture at the LR3 plus KI3 acupoints compared with LR3 plus sham, which suggests that BA6 is one of the specific brain regions for the LR3 plus KI3 combination. Some additional alterations were observed in brain regions after acupuncture at LR3 plus sham compared with acupuncture at the LR3 acupoint alone. These data suggest that changes in brain activity after acupuncture at LR3 are affected by the sham acupoint, but the mechanisms of their interaction need further research.'

Discussion. 'The activity of the posterior lobe of the cerebellum has a modulatory effect in the treatment of ventricular hypertrophy,(29) which suggests that acupuncture at the acupoints LR3 plus KI3 strengthens the function of the cerebellar posterior lobe. Movement disorders often involve impaired functioning of the cerebellum, which can be hypo-or hyperactive compared with healthy unctioning.(30) So the increased cerebellum common activity indicates acupuncture at LR3 plus KI3 acupoint combination can be used to treat movement diseases such as tremor, dystonia,'
